About the project

The Ikwe to Odio Road runs from Ikwe to Odio, partly in Onna Local Government Area and partly in Eket Local Government Area.

Governor Umo Eno approved the project in April 2026 as part of a package of state road works. The contract went to Orenburg Construction Limited. The road is about 7.5 kilometres long and includes a walkway, outfall drains to carry away flood water, and solar street lights.

The contractor cleared the site and moved equipment there in April 2026, and work has started. The road was awarded before and has now been re-awarded and funded by this administration.

The road is expected to give people in Onna and Eket a better link between their communities and the wider road network.

Impact Analysis

An assessment of the impact of these accomplishments on the people and communities.

For families and communities

The walkway gives people on foot a place away from vehicles, and the solar lights are meant to make the road usable after dark.

For work and income

The road joins communities in two Local Government Areas, which can ease the movement of people and goods between Onna and Eket.
