Empowerment programmes in Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area are part of the support schemes run by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. They aim to help farmers, traders, small business owners and vulnerable households in the LGA.
In April 2025, the state government announced grants worth N335 million for the five LGAs of the Oron Federal Constituency, which include Urue Offong/Oruko. The package covered 108 farmers who shared N51 million under the ARISE Farmers' Loan Scheme, 543 traders and business owners who shared N225 million, and 10 entrepreneurs who received N5 million each. A separate figure for Urue Offong/Oruko alone has not been published.
Households in the LGA have also received food support. Under the fourth phase of the ARISE Free Food Distribution Programme, 7,000 bags of food, made up of 4,000 bags of rice and 3,000 bags of beans, were shared at the council secretariat to people from the 10 political wards. Beneficiaries were picked from the State Social Register. The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs ran the exercise with the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency.
These schemes are meant to raise incomes, keep small businesses going and ease the cost of food for families, in line with the ARISE Agenda. The full list of programmes in the LGA is still being confirmed.

Grants can help farmers, fishermen and traders buy inputs and stock.
