About the programme

The ARISE Traders, Equipment and MSME support programme gives cash grants, work equipment and vehicles to traders and small business owners. In Ukanafun Local Government Area, 89 traders received grants worth N47,000,000 in total. Another 68 people received equipment, one person received an MSME grant, two received mini buses and one received a car.

The support was presented by Governor Umo Eno at the ARISE Town Square Meeting for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, held at QIC Central School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk, in Ukanafun. Across the whole federal constituency, 154 people received traders grants, 131 received equipment and four received MSME grants of N5 million each.

The grants are meant to add working capital for market traders. The equipment is meant to help artisans and skilled workers take on more work. The mini buses and car are meant to support transport of goods and passengers.

The programme is expected to help families earn a steady income, support women and young people in business and boost trade in Ukanafun. It is part of the support for small enterprise under the ARISE Agenda.

Impact on people and communities

For families and communities

The support helps people run their own trade and provide for their families. Women have received direct business support, and young people are being brought into economic programmes.

For work and income

Grants add to traders' working capital, and equipment lets artisans take on more work. Mini buses and a car can be used for transport business, which also helps people and goods move around the area.
