About the programme

The ARISE empowerment programmes in Udung Uko are state grants and support schemes for farmers, traders and small business owners in the LGA.

The schemes are run by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. The support was presented at an Oron Federal Constituency town hall in April 2025, where N335 million in grants was shared across Oron, Okobo, Udung Uko, Urue Offong/Oruko and Mbo.

In Udung Uko, 150 people benefited across four schemes. Seventeen farmers shared N6.8 million under the farmers grant. Sixty-two traders shared N19.4 million under the traders grant. Sixty-nine people received equipment support, and two small businesses received N5 million each under the MSME grant.

The grants are meant to help farmers raise output and help traders and small firms grow. They are part of the ARISE Agenda policy on enterprise and farm development.
