The ARISE empowerment grants and support in Ibiono Ibom are part of the statewide ARISE empowerment programme of Governor Umo Eno's administration. The programme gives cash grants, equipment and vehicles to farmers, traders and small business owners to strengthen their livelihoods.
In Ibiono Ibom, 272 people benefited. 58 farmers shared N35.5 million and 143 traders shared N59.4 million. Another 66 people received equipment support, and two small businesses each received a grant of N5 million. The support also included two mini buses and one car.
The grants were presented at ARISE Town Square Meetings held across the state's federal constituencies. Ibiono Ibom is part of the Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency, where 677 people benefited across the two LGAs. Applicants were selected through the ARISE portal, which was meant to give every applicant an equal chance instead of sharing out slots.
The support is expected to help farmers grow more food, help traders expand their stock, and create more jobs and income in the LGA. It fits the ARISE Agenda's aim of widening economic opportunity in every community.
The grants reach households directly. A farmer or trader with more capital can better meet family needs such as food, school fees and health care.
Cash grants let traders restock and farmers buy inputs. Equipment and vehicles give beneficiaries tools to earn from, which supports trade in the three major markets of the LGA.
