About the programme

The ARISE empowerment and grants programme for Eastern Obolo is the Eastern Obolo share of a support package for the Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency. The constituency is made up of Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas.

The Akwa Ibom State Government delivered the package under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE empowerment schemes. The grants and vehicles were presented on 4 June 2025 at the Ikot Abasi Local Government Council Ground. Across the three LGAs, 540 people shared N250 million in grants, equipment and vehicles.

In Eastern Obolo, 1 car and 2 mini buses were given out, and 2 people received ARISE MSME grants of N5 million each. 68 people benefited from the ARISE Equipment Support Scheme, which provides work tools such as generators, sewing machines, hair dressing and barbing equipment. 45 people received ARISE Traders Grants and 12 received ARISE Farmers Grants.

The support is meant to help small traders, farmers, artisans and transport operators grow their work and earn more. The vehicles are expected to support local transport business. The programme forms part of the ARISE Agenda's focus on jobs and small businesses.
