The ARISE support programme in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area gives grants, work equipment and vehicles to farmers, traders, small business owners and transport operators. In Etim Ekpo, 58 farmers received grants worth N35,500,000 and 143 traders received grants worth N59,400,000. Another 66 people received equipment, 2 received MSME grants of N5,000,000 each, 2 received mini buses and 1 received a car.
The programme is run by the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Umo Eno. People from Etim Ekpo were among those who received support at the Abak Federal Constituency town hall meeting and empowerment event, held at Abak Township Stadium on 8 March 2025. That event served Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika, and gave cash support ranging from N150,000 to N5,000,000.
The grants give farmers money for inputs and give traders working capital for their shops and stalls. The equipment helps artisans such as tailors, hairdressers, welders and vulcanizers start or grow their trade. The buses and car are meant to support transport businesses.
The support is expected to help households earn steadier incomes and to keep small farms and businesses running in the local economy. It is part of the ARISE Agenda's focus on wealth creation and support for small businesses.
